Up From The Vaults Vol 1

CD (Item 596319) Soul Fire, 2002 — Condition: Used
$5.99 ...

A treasure trove of Soul Fire's funky 45s, both the A-sides and the flips, collected on a single CD! Soul Fire is probably the greatest funk revival label out there, with a history of limited edition 7-inch singles showcasing both under appreciated funky heroes like Lee Fields, the Detroit Sex Machines, and the Herb Johnson Settlement, and newer groups devoted to the classic feel, like Mauri Bailey, WQLJ, the Latin leaning Bronx River Parkway, and the Afro Funky group Massak. There is enough hot, pounding funk pressed into the grooves of those singles to thaw out a frozen Lake Michigan, but most notoriously fall out of print in a matter of months, leaving us dying for a reprise. That's where this collection comes in – 9 funk powerhouses, 18 funky jams – the vinyl may be long gone, but the funk will go on, thanks to the magic of digital audio!!! Includes "Quines Haverlo" and "Chum's Pimpage" by Bronx River Parkway, "Answer Me Softly" by Fabulous Three, "Instrumental #1" and "Nothing Doing But Waiting On Leon" by WQLJ, "Chokin'" and "Rampage" by Whitefield Brothers", "Get It" by Herb Johnson Settlement, "BLA" by Massak, "Stretch" by Detroit Sex Machines, and "Easy Access" by El Michels Affair. A mammoth collection of funk crammed onto one CD, and an essential long player even if you already have the singles!  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
