In Love

LP (Item 596128) Motown, 1987 — Condition: Near Mint-
...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Switch II
Motown, 1979. Very Good+
Quite possibly the best album ever from Ohio funky soul combo Switch – and certainly proof that the hope of Motown in the 80s was in ensemble group funk! Motown, 1969. Very Good+
A real change for Chuck Jackson! This album is the singer's first on Motown – and it's a striking departure from his earlier work on the Wand label, which was often done in a classier, more polished soul style that was more in keeping with the uptown mode of Wand's New York production. This ... LP, Vinyl record album

Temptations

Song For You
Motown, 1975. Near Mint-

Mandre

M3000
Motown, 1979. Very Good+
3rd album of futuristic soul from Mandre, with a bit less of the Dexter Wansel influenced sound we love so much about the first album, and more of the bass heavy sound that would predominate in the 80s, as well as a good bit of synthesized sounds and slick production flourishes, even a bit of ... This is the second of two live albums that Marvin Gaye cut during the 70s – and in many ways, it's the better one! Stevie Wonder

Hotter Than July
Tamla, 1980. Near Mint- Gatefold
A bit smoother than early days, but still very nice and soulful – and did we expect any less from Stevie? The record's got a nicely flanged-out soul groove – with a style that kind of expands on the vocal and keyboard production of the early 70s, taking the groove towards a sound that ... Ted Taylor

Taylor Made
Ronn, Early 70s. Near Mint-
An obscure one from Ted Taylor – a lot blusier than some of his earlier soul work from the 60s, but with some great funky touches that really make the record great! As with most of these Ronn/Jewel albums, there's no real credits, so we have trouble figuring out who helped Ted get his groove ... LP, Vinyl record album
