Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Santana

Welcome
Columbia, 1973. Near Mint- Gatefold
Sadly, it's really easy to dismiss Santana, if only for his having been elevated to iconic status among hippies and classic rock lovers, in spite of the fact that he made a number of great records. This early 70s effort finds him moving in a more jazzy direction, with supple rhythms underpinning ... LP, Vinyl record album

The first Chicago album – presented here in all its jazzy brilliance! Back in the day, we used to wince when we heard these guys – but over the years, thanks to much rediscovery of the band by groove hounds, we've really come to like their work a lot. This first album especially has ... LP, Vinyl record album

Groundbreaking work from Laura Nyro – exactly the kind of record that sums up the unique genius in her music! The record's not folk, not pop, not soul, nor jazz vocals – but a new sort of style that draws a bit from all those genres, and comes up with a bold new approach that opened ... New Skin for Leonard Cohen, who by 1974 was ready to start singing with a bit more flair, and do so over more textured arrangements – but still raw both emotionally and in the unglossy instrumentation! The core of the sound is still Cohen's voice, his words, and acoustic guitar – but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Electric Flag

Long Time Comin'
Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good
A wild little record, and one that's got a lot more going on than the usual blues-inspired rock set of the time! Sure, Mike Bloomfield is on guitar, and Barry Goldberg handles keyboards – but the set also features some sitar from Richie Havens, plus moog from Paul Beaver, more guitar from ... Santo & Johnny

Santo & Johnny
Canadian American, Early 60s. Good+
Sublime work by the Santo & Johnny team! You probably know their monster hit "Sleepwalk" – the cornerstone of this early album, and a fantastically moody blend of electric and pedal steel guitar, with a slow spacey surf sound that captivated millions of earholes when it first ... Question Mark & The Mysterians

96 Tears
Cameo, Late 60s. Good
A garage psych classic from Question Mark & The Mysterians – the kind of once-in-a-lifetime album that still sounds pretty darn great today! The group are known, of course, for their huge hit "96 Tears" – and the rest of the album's done in a very similar mode – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Harry Nilsson

Son Of Schmilsson
RCA, 1972. Near Mint- Gatefold
One of the wilder sets from Nillsson – careening from lovely piano pop with romantic vocals, to spaced out, good humored potty mouth excess – near honky tonk, to fuzzy pop rock – if you like Nilsson at his most unhinged, this is a great one! It's a stunner, actually – with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sticky Fingers
Rolling Stones, 1971. Good
Landmark work from The Rolling Stones – and a set that may well stand alongside Exile On Main Street for capturing the group at their height!
