Odetta Sings Dylan

LP (Item 595674) RCA, 1965 — Condition: Very Good+

A stripped down, bluesy folk soul set of Dylan tunes by Odetta – returning some kudos to a kid who was hugely inspired by her earlier material in the late 50s – a really beautiful record and possibly one of the best ever Dylan covers albums! Odetta Sings Dylan is actually one of the earliest full LPs of Dylan covers – pretty soon everyone and their brother would be covering him, very few as naturalistic and wonderfully as Odetta! Odetta's perfect vocals and guitar are accompanied by guitarist Peter Childs and bassist Les Grinage, and the titles include "Baby, I'm In The Mood For You", "Long Ago, Far Away", "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright", "Tomorrow Is A Long Time", "Walkin' Down The Line", "Masters Of War", "Long Time Gone" and more.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono black label pressing with deep groove. Vinyl has short click for a few spins on "Times They Are A-Changin".)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jose Feliciano

10 To 23
RCA, 1969. Near Mint-
A groovy record from Jose – with his best kind of crossover feel! It's an unusual title – one that refers to the first track on the record, recorded by Jose Feliciano at age 10 – and the rest of the material included, done when Jose was 23 years old. It's a mixture of American ... LP, Vinyl record album

I'm In Love
RCA, 1981. Very Good-
One of the real standouts in Evelyn King's career – a sharply focused album that's filled with catchy 80s styled tunes – and which benefits from some great help from a young Kashif! Lots of the tracks have that great flair for a catchy hook that mark's Evelyn's best work – an ... LP, Vinyl record album

Carolyn Franklin

I'd Rather Be Lonely
RCA, 1973. Sealed
Classic soul from Aretha Franklin's hip sister – and quite possibly the most unified of all the Carolyn Franklin albums for RCA! Barrabas

Power
RCA, 1973. Sealed
Funky rocking sounds from this hip Spanish group – served up with a bit of a tribal sound that's pretty sweet – and which makes Barrabas a key link between funk, rock, and club sounds in the mid 70s! The bass is pretty thundering, the drums are strong, and there's some cool piano and ... LP, Vinyl record album

LTG Exchange

Susie Heartbreaker
RCA, 1975. Very Good-
A pretty strange little album from LTG Exchange – a blend of Latin, funk, and soul – wrapped up in a comic-stripped cover that pushes the album as sort of a "black rock operetta"! The feel here is different than the group's earlier work – a bit more disco oriented, but ... LP, Vinyl record album
