Joneses

LP (Item 5914) Epic, 1977 — Condition: Very Good+

A killer for the Joneses – probably their strongest album all the way through, thanks to some great production and arrangements by Bobby Eli! The album's got the group taking the fragile harmony style of their earlier records, and filtering it through the Philly powerhouse groove to create a stronger, more high-stepping sound. The album's got a good mix of uptempo groovers and a few mellower tracks, and titles include "Who Loves You", "In Love Again", "Music To My Ears", and "Rat Race".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(White label promo.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Juicy Fruit
Epic, 1983. Sealed
Sweet funky work from Mtume – a set that's nicely heavy on the keyboards, and which really set a new standard in 80s groove at the time! Inner Feelings
Epic, 1982. Near Mint-
Great early work from Billy Ocean – a smooth album of understated groovers, all done in a style that's nicely retrained, and which places a good focus on Billy's great vocals! Dakar, 1974. Very Good-
A wonderful early record from Bohannon – and with a very different feel than usual!
