Peruvian Funk

LP (Item 589468) Secret Stash, 1970s — Condition: Near Mint-

Some of the funkiest cuts ever from the legendary Peruvian scene – massive work from that time when the South American moved into some really sweet 70s territory! Back in the day, Peru really had an oddly productive music scene – one that recorded wicked Latin grooves and garage rock records in the 60s – then slid into a style that was much more jazzy and funky in the 70s – as you'll hear in this batch of all-essential tracks! Some of the artists have been reissued before over the years, but we've never heard them all together in one place like this – a perfectly-chosen collection that pulls out all the best bits from this enigmatic scene, and presents them beautifully in a single package. There's loads of heavy rhythms here – many with a sweet Latin funk undercurrent – plus wild keyboards, jazzy riffs, and lots more good bits – on titles that include "Think" and "Here Come The Hiltons" by Bossa 70, "Funky Ditty" and "Too Late" by Black Sugar, "Reflexions" and "Hard Work" by Nils Jazz Ensemble, "African Bump" and "Hazlo Como Quiras" by Enrique Lynch, "The Looser" and "Walkin" by Black Sugar, and "Si Voce Pensa" by Bossa 70.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Yellow vinyl pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
