Wild Guitars

LP (Item 58386) Capitol, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good

A pretty great album from Les – quite different than his exotica albums from the time, but in a nice way! The record features lots of guitars – as you'd guess from the title – including a lot of Spanish-type acoustic work that's set up in some pretty tasty acoustic grooves. The record has a strongly percussive approach that makes it sparkle nicely – and there's a bit of electricity in the guitars, creating nice hi-fi effects. Titles include "Sabre Dance", "Ritual Fire Dance", "Mandolino", "Tico Tico", "Brazilian Slave Song", "Desilusao", "Cabayo", and "Tell Me Margarita".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Rainbow label mono pressing. Cover has some wear, seam splitting and a small stain on the back.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sounds Of Adventure
Capitol, Mid 60s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A 2LP set, released in the mid 60's as a "Capitol Record Club Exclusive" – and one that compiles some of Baxter's best work for the label. The inside of the cover has some good notes on Baxter's career, and the record contains many nice moments like "Dancing Diamonds", ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the nicest albums that Ferrante & Teicher cut for United Artists! The record has bits of prepared piano over exotic backings – perhaps not as crazy as some of their albums for Westminster, but still with some good off-beat touches that make the album one of the few that's really ... Heavy Vibrations
Verve, Late 60s. Sealed
