Christmas Carols

LP (Item 581820) London, 1953 — Condition: Very Good+
The lush, beautiful and all time classic set of Christmas Carols from Mantovani – the stereo version that brought extra lift to those soaring, beautiful string arrangements! From the best known carols to equally wonderful waltzes, it's all lovely and a worthy addition to any holiday music collection. Includes "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman", "Good King Wenceslas", "The First Noel", "Joy To The World", "Nazareth", "Waldteufel: The Skater's Waltz" and more.  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Los Brasilios

Brasilian Beat '67
Design, 1967. Very Good+
A very unusual bit of bossa nova – and a record that seems to criss-cross a few different A&M Records modes of the 60s! At one level, the group's got a Brasil 66 feel – since they use a female vocal chorus on some cuts, breezing along with the grooves in a style that's definitely ... LP, Vinyl record album

Shades Of Today
Verve, Late 60s. Very Good-
Groovy pop orchestrations from one of the best bandleaders working at Verve in the late 60's. Sweet Verve sounds, with a mix of jazz, easy, and Brazilian sounds, and tracks like "Laia Ladaia", "Cinnamon & Clove", "The Look of Love", "Arrasto", and "B ... LP, Vinyl record album

David Fanshawe

African Sanctus
Philips, 1973. Near Mint- Gatefold
The record is a composition "For African tapes, choir, soprano, shouter, African drummer, rock drummer, percussion, guitar, bass, piano, and organ" – and it takes tapes that Fanshawe recorded in the field during the late 60s, and mixes them with larger arrangements featuring all the ... Kirby Stone Four

Wow!
Warner, 1963. Near Mint-
One of the grooviest records ever from the Kirby Stone Four – and a set that really lives up to its cover! Dick Hyman did the arrangements, and they're pretty dynamic – just right for the whimsy of the group. LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1962. Near Mint-
(Mono pressing with deep groove. Cover has some blemishes at the top left corner.) LP, Vinyl record album
Atlantic, 1971. Very Good
As the liner notes say: "Everything a woman needs to know to love and be loved by a man...The importance of his orgasm, the etiquette of orgies, what goes on in a man's head sexually - and much, much more." How could we top that? The album that inspired Rudy Ray Moore's Sensuous Black ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ventures

Horse
Liberty, 1968. Very Good+
One of the best late 60s albums by the Ventures – a lot more hard-wailing than usual – and done with a fair bit of influence from funk and soul music too! The title cut gives the album away nicely – as it's a cover of Cliff Nobles' classic funky 45 "The Horse", done ... LP, Vinyl record album

This Is Max Greger
Polydor (UK), Late 1960s. Very Good+
A sweet selection of 60s tunes from German bandleader Max Greger – some of which have great use of electric bass and offbeat rhythms amidst more familiar instrumentation! Tracks include "We Can Work It Out", "Safari Trumpet- "Strangers In The Night", "Kiss Of ... LP, Vinyl record album
