Samba 707

LP (Item 580812) RGE (Brazil), Late 60s — Condition: Very Good
Brazilian instrumentals from the 60s – and a cool jet cover, too!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover is missing the plastic outer sleeve, but this is a nice copy overall.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Maria Creuza

Voce Abusou
RGE (Brazil), 1971. Very Good
One of Maria Crueza's best recordings! It's one of her better albums of bossa nova work, given a bit of a 70's twist, and with the kind of percussive edge that you hear in some of Crueza's other albums. Mike Ribas arranged, and the album features guest performances by Sebastio Tapajos and Pedro ... LP, Vinyl record album

Amazing work from a young Chico Buarque – a record that seems to draw on all the best elements of 60s Brazilian pop, and forge them into a sound that's all its own! Helena De Lima

Uma Noite No Cangaceiro
RGE (Brazil), 1965. Very Good
A live and lively little bossa vocal set – recorded at the Cangaceiro nightclub, with backing by a really great small combo! Astrud Gilberto

Windy
Verve, 1967. Near Mint-
One of the hardest to find Astrud Gilberto records on Verve – and one of the best! Deodato, Don Sebesky, and Pat Williams did the arrangements – and the sound here is a bit different than some of the straighter Gilberto sets of the time – still very bossa-inspired, but also in a ... Songs (Brazil), 1987. Near Mint-
An obscure Joyce album from the late 80s, and a very nice set of mellow readings of Jobim classics, performed with help on keyboards from the great Gilson Peranzzetta! Joyce's guitar and vocals are in the lead, and Peranzzetta plays electric piano and a bit of synth, in washes of sound that feel a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Certainly one of the greatest albums by this excellent (and oft-overlooked!) group from the 70s!
