50 Years Of Film Music – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Recordings Of The Great Songs & Scores From Warner Brothers (3LP Box Set)

LP (Item 580668) Warner, 1920s/1930s/1940s/1950s/1960s/Early 70s — Condition: Very Good+
3LP Box Set
Includes selections from scores by Erich Korngold, Max Steiner, Franz Waxman, Alex North, and Dimitri Tiomkin, plus 30s Broadway showtunes, and performances by Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, and many more.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the booklet and the printed inner sleeves. Box has splitting on the bottom seam and light surface wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mundell Lowe

Billy Jack
Warner, 1971. Very Good Gatefold
If there was anything weirder than the Billy Jack series of films in the 70s, it was the soundtracks! The records feature overall scoring by Mundell Lowe, with jazzy instrumentals that are trying to have a serious "southwest" sound to them – plus lots of vocal tracks with a similar ... Performance – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Warner, 1970. Very Good+
The jury is sometimes out on the Mick Jagger on-screen performance in the Nicolas Roeg film Performance – but the soundtrack is something pretty separate entirely, and really says a lot more about the spirit of late 60s Warner Brothers Records in LA than it does the arthouse cinema scene in ... Warner, 1968. Near Mint-
A beautiful early soundtrack from Dave Grusin – surprisingly sensitive, and quite different than his later funky work in the 70s! The score is a cool mix of strings and keyboard parts – sometimes played on harpsichord by Grusin, an instrument that we don't always hear him use, and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Henry Mancini

Peter Gunn
RCA, 1959. Very Good
A classic! This is the record that made Mancini's career, and forever transformed the face of crime and jazz. The record's a stunning batch of instrumentals, played by a crack group of west coast players who also performed regularly in the TV show. Titles include the classic "Peter ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stony Island – Original Soundtrack
Glades, 1978. Near Mint-
A sweet set of soundtrack funk – from a film named after one of our favorite streets in Chicago! Although the record's got an approach that's perhaps a bit tighter and smoother than anything going down on Stony in the late 70s, it does manage to share a good deal of styles with the Chi-soul ... Wild Angels – Original Soundtrack
Tower, 1966. Very Good
Classic kitschy biker material from Davie Allan and The Arrows – one of the best-ever groups to play on schlocky soundtracks during the 60s! There's lots of guitar and lots of fuzz – and guessing from the photos of the movie, the music was the best thing about it! Toddler Mike Curb ... LP, Vinyl record album
