Call Me/Night Drive (reprise)

12-inch (Item 580667) Polydor, 1980 — Condition: Near Mint-
Just Sold Out!

12-inch, Vinyl record

5.00 11

Special split promo single from American Gigolo! (White label promo in a stickered sleeve.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Liberty, 1981. Very Good (pic cover)
Early 80s slap bass funk – of the sort that was showing up on the Liberty label at the time, and which here comes across pretty well. The best cut is "Love Is On The One", which has a catchy sing-song groove, and a very nice hook. Both tracks from the Point of Pleasure LP. 12-inch, Vinyl record

"Disco Nights" is one of the greatest grooves ever from GQ – a tightly-stepping number that's every thing a rollerskating track should have been at the end of the 70s! The tune builds wonderfully from the very first beat – keeping time with a very sharp focus, but also ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

RCA, 1978. Very Good
Funky club grooves from the never-miss team of Patrick Adams and Greg Carmichael! The cut's one of the best from the hard-to-find Bumblebee Unlimited album on RCA – and it's offered here in 2 versions, a 10 minute long mix by John Morales and Frank Trimarco, and a 6 minute remix version by ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

BBC America, 1984. Very Good
Nice work from Smoke City – one of those few 80s groups that seemed to have a timeless sound that was never fettered by the overwrought studio touches of the time! "I Really Want You" is a nice groover – never too fast, or too disco, but just in the right pace to keep up with ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
