Gladys Knight & The Pips (Up Front)

LP (Item 579880) Up Front, Early 60s — Condition: Near Mint-

A collection of songs from the early days when Gladys Knight & The Pips were just starting out. Tracks include "Every Beat Of My Heart", "Queen Of Tears", "Room In Your Heart", and more.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Knight Time
SOUL, 1974. Near Mint-
One of the last Gladys Knight albums for Motown – and seemingly a collection of work from a variety of different sessions, possibly put together to compete with her shift to Buddah Records in the mid 70s! Working Nights
Virgin (UK), 1985. Near Mint- Gatefold
One of the greatest soul groups from the UK in the 80s – a real bright spot in the years before Soul II Soul and the rise of acid jazz – and a set we'd rank right up there with Sade's best work of the time! Marvin Gaye

Midnight Love
Columbia, 1982. Near Mint-
Marvin Gaye's last album ever – and a sensuous batch of grooves that almost return him to the sound of Let's Get It On! Al Green

Truth N Time
Hi Records, 1978. Near Mint-
Al Green's last secular album for Hi Records – but still a nice little cooker that's overflowing with Memphis soul! A groovy record from Jose – with his best kind of crossover feel!
