Yes Indeed

LP (Item 579492) Swingville/Prestige, Early 60s — Condition: Very Good+
A small combo set – with Hopkins on piano, Buddy Tate on tenor, and Emmett Berry on trumpet!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono maroon label Swingville pressing with RVG stamp and deep groove. Cover has light wear, some spotty aging, sticker remnants at the top right corner on both sides, and small center split in the bottom seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of the first bop ... LP, Vinyl record album

Red Holloway

Burner
Prestige, 1963. Very Good
One of the first in a run of excellent mid 60s sides from tenor saxophonist Red Holloway – a very cooking player who's at the height of his powers on this hard-edged set! The date has Red in territory that's slightly more expanded than his dates with Jack McDuff – a quartet mode with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Prestige, 1964. Very Good
Bad Bossa Nova is right – as Gene Ammons really hits a great groove here – one that's not exactly bossa, but which has lots of Latin and tropical touches! A definite soul summit for the time – with 3 top-shelf players in the lead, all getting plenty of room to do their thing!
