A great re-launch for the sound of Natalie Cole in the 80s – an album that represents a shift from Capitol Records to Epic, but which also still features work from Cole's best collaborators – the soulful team of Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy! The Chicago duo help out on most of the best tracks here – and revamp the Cole sound of the 70s with a style that's a bit leaner, and more suited to 80s soul arrangements – but which also still has a fullness that suits Natalie best! Instrumentation is never too electric or stiff, and there's a nice use of strings – in a subtle way that's never too dated, but which underscores the classier elements in Cole's approach.
