LP (Item 578213) Bronco, 1976 — Condition: Very Good+

A 70s killer from Bobby Valentin – one of the first in an excellent run of records for the Bronco label, and a set that has bassist Bobby at the height of his salsa powers! Valentin made a key musical shift at the start of the decade, and by this point he's really at the top of his game – leading a combo with lots of the tightness and youthful energy learned during the Latin Soul years, but with a fuller, richer, more righteous style overall! The horns are especially great – and feature Barry Rogers and James Adames on trombone, Elias Lopes and Agustin Antomattei on trumpets, Justino Perezhabour on alto sax, and Alfredo Falu on baritone – moving well in arrangements by Valentin and the group's pianist, Tito Valentin. Titles include "La Cosquilla", "El Jibaro Y La Naturaleza", "Ven Bernabe", "Jacobo Basura", "Son Son Charari", and "Hola".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mexican pressing on MR records.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A stone 60s smoker from Mongo Santmaria – and a great little set that really lives up to its title!
