His Band & Street Choir

LP (Item 576930) Warner, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
One of the great albums from Van Morrison during that incredible peak period – and a record that stands out as a less emotionally fraught effort after the heavy mood of Astral Weeks and the super far-reaching Moondance albums. Here Van concentrates a bit more on his love of R&B, but still with some soaring touches. Titles include the unshakable classic "Domino", plus "Crazy Face", "I've Been Working", "Blue Money", "Virgo Clowns", "Gypsy Queen", "Street Choir" and more.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Green label WB pressing with Sterling stamp and RL etch. Cover has ring and edge wear, light waviness from moisture at the bottom corner and a small split in the top seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Alice Cooper

Pretties For You
Straight/Warner, 1969. Near Mint-
Pre-shock rock psychedelia from Alice Cooper – more of a Detroit-reared answer to early Pink Floyd than it is a clue to the early metal horror show to come – and a record that stands stunningly well on its own! Since most people never even heard Pretties For You until long after Alice ... LP, Vinyl record album

Youngbloods

Rock Festival
Warner, 1970. Very Good+
A record with a bit of a joke on the cover, but one that's also got a much more mature version of The Youngbloods than just a few years before – a group who are moving past straighter folk, bringing in bits of psych and jazz elements – yet still also keeping their cool a lot more than ... Ides Of March

Vehicle
Warner, 1970. Very Good+
These guys will forever be known for the jazzy grooving title hit – "Vehicle", a brassy driving number that seems as if it's always being used in some sort of car commercial (which must net these guys a lot of royalties!) – but which is usually mistaken by others for being the ... Warner, 1982. Very Good+
Hey Spud boy! You need this record. Definitely underrated in the grand scheme, Oh No! finds the boys rocking a much more straightforward, nerdy computer funk sound. It sort of takes a page from the 80s Kraftwerk playbook with the grid-patterned 80s computer tomfoolery, albeit with a far more ... LP, Vinyl record album

Laurie Anderson

Big Science
Warner, 1982. Near Mint-
One of the greatest albums to come from the New York underground of the early 80s – even if it was a relatively big "hit" on a major label!
