For Twisters Only

LP (Item 576742) Parkway, Early 60s — Condition: Sealed

(180 gram EU pressing on WaxTime.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Delegation

Delegation
Mercury, 1980. Very Good+
A sweet bouncy groover – one of the rare albums of modern soul cut by the group Delegation! The group in this incarnation are a trio – Ray Patterson, Ricky Bailey, and Bruce Dunbar on vocals – stripped-down harmonically, a perfect fit for the album's groove-heavy arrangements. ... SOS Band

Sands Of Time
Tabu, 1986. Very Good+
The mighty SOS Band, still grooving hard well into the 80s – and still showing the world that their sound is way tighter than any of their many imitators! Natalie Cole

Inseparable
Capitol, 1975. Very Good+
Natalie Cole's stunning debut for Capitol Records in the mid 70s – a real surprise, and a set that should have had the singer blossoming even more than she did at the time! Mirage/Atlantic, 1986. Very Good+
Sweet pop soul from the lovely Shannon – a record that's not nearly as well-remembered as her debut, thanks to the lack of a title hit – but which still follows very strongly in its shoes! Billy Preston & Syreeta

Billy Preston & Syreeta
Motown, 1981. Very Good+
A nice little follow-up to Billy Preston & Syreeta's work on the Fast Break soundtrack – and a record that's one of the few key sides to carry the older Motown duet soul mode firmly into the 80s! There's a great sense of balance here – one that uses Syreeta's sweeter vocal approach ... LP, Vinyl record album
Liberty, Late 60s. Very Good+
A record with a hokey cover and an unassuming title – but a wicked little set that's filled with funky soul throughout! Harold Alexander

Are You Ready?
Flying Dutchman, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
Reedman Harold Alexander cut very few albums as a leader – and this is one of the best! You're likely to hear Alexander's work in the background on other sessions, but at the time of this record he was also a visionary leader – perfect for the open, freewheeling vibe allowed by the ... Nancy Wilson

How Glad I Am
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good+
Nice stuff from that period when Nancy was forging her unique mix of soul, jazz, and pop vocals into a sophisticated blend that transcended all styles. Geffen, 1980. Near Mint-
A record that some might call the last truly great Peter Gabriel album – and a key cap to his excellent initial solo run!
