Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Ride Like The Wind
Elektra/Collectables, 1982. Used
A sweet and smooth set from Freddie Hubbard – one that builds on his funky fusion of the 70s, and delivers things with a warmer, fuller feel overall! The album's got Freddie fronting a very large group – one arranged by Allyn Ferguson, who also penned some of the album's best tracks as ... CD

Features Hubbard on trumpet, Benny Green on piano, Javon Jackson on tenor, Christian McBride on bass, and Tonny Reedus on drums! CD
Breaking Point!
Blue Note, 1966. Used
Pivotal work from Freddie Hubbard – a tight, edgey quintet side with a sound that approaches the Blue Note "new thing" sound, but which stays just this side of the fence to keep in line with Freddie's other soulful work of the 60s! The group features some great work by James ... CD

Blue Note, 1962. Used
Moody genius from Freddie Hubbard – one that features a unique group with McCoy Tyner on piano, Wayne Shorter on tenor, and Bernard McKinney on euphonium – a tuba-like instrument that gives the album a nicely shadowy sound! McKinney's probably better known for his 70s work with the ... CD
Soul Brother (UK), Mid 60s/1970s/Early 80s. Used 2 CDs

Sky Dive
CTI, 1972. Used
A killer set from Freddie Hubbard's legendary years on CTI! Like the classic Red Clay album, there's 4 tunes here, all longer cuts – where everyone gets a chance to stretch out a bit, over smooth (but not too smooth!) electric grooves, supported by great orchestrations from Don Sebesky! Ron ... CD
Blue Note, 1962. Used
An album with a classic modernist cover image – and one that's also got the same sort of sound to match – brilliant early work from trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, who's really coming into his own as a leader with this date! Freddie's really finding a voice here – a sharper edge than ... CD
Blue Note, 1960. Used
Seminal work from Freddie Hubbard – an early hardbop session that features some great work by Tina Brooks on tenor, piano by McCoy Tyner, and rhythm from the team of Sam Jones on bass Clifford Jarvis on drums! And although Freddie's great at this early point in his career – playing ... CD
Times Are Changing
Blue Note, 1989. Used
A return to more soulful sounds for Freddie Hubbard in the 80s – as the record features some bigger arrangements from Todd Cochran, and vocals from Phil Perry on one track too! CD
Black Lion, 1954. Used
Very hip work from the Boston modern scene of the mid 50s! The album's one of Serge Chaloff's few as a leader – and is much harder to find than his more widely-issued work for Capitol – an obscure date for the Storyville label, and one that originally only circulated as a 10" LP! ... CD
