Jazz Ultimate

LP (Item 57434) Capitol, 1957 — Condition: Near Mint-

Two favorites of the trad jazz scene get together on this extremely well-selling Capitol album. Players include Peanuts Hucko, Billy Bauer, and Ernie Caceres – and titles include "Mama's Gone", "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans", "55th & Broadway", "It's Wonderful", and "Oh Baby".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Turquoise label pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

New Warrior
Capitol, 1978. Very Good+
A wonderful record by Bobby Lyle – and a genius blend of jazz, soul, and lots of other righteous sounds! Capitol, 1970. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
Fantastic work from the massive electric years of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet – one of the group's last records to feature the keyboards of Joe Zawinul – and also one of the heaviest from the time! Zbigniew Seifert

Passion
Capitol, 1978. Near Mint-
The last album ever recorded by jazz violinist Zbigniew Seifert before his tragic early death from cancer – and a really far-reaching set that's got more of a solid, acoustic feel than his first set for Capitol. Like that album, this one's co-produced by Chris Hinze, and has some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great big band indeed – a session from 1960 that has Bill Holman still sitting nicely at the top of the west coast large group format from the 50s! Cannonball Adderley with David Axelrod production – a combination that couldn't miss back in the 60s! Great work by one of the grooviest groups on the LA 60s scene! Atlantic, 1972. Very Good
Damn great work from the amazing Eddie Harris – a record that's got a perfect blend of jazz and funk, but still holds onto more righteous elements too!
