Very Good - (minus)
Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play,
but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic,
with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a
cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner
and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay,
though probably with surface noise.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
These early Osibisa records always used to be fairly common years back – perhaps because they were always a bit too hippy dippy and loose for the older funk crowd. But now, in today's blunted groove culture, they seem to have found a new appreciation for their trippy Afro funk style, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Beautiful work from Ti Paris – a Haitian guitarist who works here in a relatively stripped-down setting – usually just his voice and acoustic guitar, light percussion, and occasional chorus vocals! The approach is quite different than later Haitian music we know – and has this ... LP, Vinyl record album
Way cooler than the usual score you might expect – as the record not only features the main theme, plus some ethnographic recordings – but also includes cuts by Fela, Toure Kunda, and Youssou N'Dour! LP, Vinyl record album
Amazing funk from this new Afro Beat combo! Forget that they're a bunch of young guys from New York – because the sound of this one is pure 70s Africa, with hard heavy drum work, super-tight horn riffing, spiraling keyboard lines, and some excellent guitar! You probably also know the work ... LP, Vinyl record album
A dark duo from the Indonesian scene – working here in a mode that's unlike anything you might expect! The pair mix deep, muddy vocalizations with noisy guitar and other fuzzy sounds – but also include some more organic melodic or percussive instrumentation from time to time – ... A great album of smooth jazzy numbers recorded for CTI – with a nice luster that actually makes the album a lot more compelling than some of JJ and Kai's other work together. The album features some great big band arrangements of strong material, including Edu Lobo's "Casa Forte" ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great 70s album by Roland Kirk – one that features him working on a lot of short tracks, in a pretty crazy style! A number of the tracks feature Kirk's uniquely quirky reed style in full effect – often processed with added studio techniques, in a very nice way. And along side that ... LP, Vinyl record album
