Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ben Webster/Gene Ammons

Live At Pio's/In Sweden
Enja (Germany), 1964/1973. Used
Two live Enja albums! Live At Pio's is a great small club date from Ben Webster – different than some of his European concerts of his final years, in that this one was done at a lounge in Rhode Island, and maybe has a bit more bite and focus overall! The tracks are short, and Webster gets ... CD

Marc Levin

Social Sketches
Enja/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1975. Used
Marc Levin is maybe best known for one famous album of avant jazz recorded for the Savoy label in the 60s – but he's equally stunning here in a mid 70s set that got little circulation at the time, but which is a key part of Levin's under-recorded legacy as a leader! The approach is very open ... CD
Enja (Germany), 1965/1975. Used
A compelling split album – both a performance by and a tribute to the legendary tenorist Booker Ervin – issued after his death, but also featuring a rare European performance from the 60s as well! The album features one long track by Booker – "Blues For You" – ... CD
Enja (Germany), 1989. Used
Later live work from Dizzy Gillespie – working in London here with a very hip ensemble! We're not entirely sure of the date, but given the skinny ties on a few of the players, we're guessing it's from that 80s stretch when Dizzy was still going strong – working in a great mix of Latin ... CD

Bennie Wallace

Bennie Wallace In Berlin
Enja (Japan), 2001. Used
Bennie Wallace on tenor saxophone, George Cables on piano, Peter Washington on bass, and Herlin on drums. CD

Kenny Barron

What If?
Enja/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1986. Used
Although Kenny Barron's always a heck of a great musician on his own or in a piano trio, we're especially partial to his work in groups with horn players – and this album is a great example of that preference! Kenny first came to fame working with Dizzy Gillespie in the 60s, and since that ... CD

Franco Ambrosetti

Wings
Enja (Japan), 1983. Used
With Franco on trumpet, Mike Brecker on tenor, John Clark on French horn, Kenny Kirkland on piano, Buster Williams on bass, and Daniel Humair on drums. CD

John Scofield

Shinola
Enja (Germany), 1982. Used
A wonderful setting for the guitar of John Scofield – one that really brings out all the rich chromes of his early work on the instrument! The group's a trio – with Adam Nussbaum on drums and Steve Swallow on bass – and in a way, there's a vibe here that reminds us of some of the ... CD

Barry Harris

Live At Dug
Enja (Germany), 1995. Used
Barry Harris recorded live in Tokyo – working at the intimate Dug nightclub, with backing from Japanese players Kunimitsuj Inaba on bass and Fumio Watanabe on drums! The style here is in the warmer side of the Harris spectrum – sometimes introspective, sometimes a bit more grooving ... CD
Soleil Zeuhl (France), 1999. Used
