❔
(Cover has a promo stamp, cutout notch, hype sticker, and Play It Say It sticker.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bob Marley & The Wailers

Rebel Music
Island, 1970s. Very Good Gatefold
One of many posthumous compilations of Marley's work with the Wailers, and not a bad one at that. Without setting out to be a greatest hits, this compilation focuses on some of Marley's more topical, political songs, including the classics "Get Up, Stand Up" & "Them Belly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bunny Wailer

Sings The Wailers
Mango, 1980. Very Good+
A later effort from perhaps the least prolific of the solo Wailers. Bunny does nice later interpretations of Wailers classics, with a generous helping hand from Sly & Robbie, and adds a nice rendition of Curtis Mayfield's "Keep On Moving" to the set. A favorite album of ours from ... LP, Vinyl record album
Shanachie, 1979. Near Mint-
As Culture moved to working with producer Sonia Pottinger, they began to develop more of their own distinctive style, rather than relying on the model of Burning Spear's harmony work. Modulations

It's Rough Out Here
Buddah, 1975. Very Good
A righteous group soul classic from the 70s – the one and only album from The Modulations, and a lasting classic that almost beats the multiple album runs of some of their contemporaries! The group's a southern harmony quartet at their core, but they also get some really great backings on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eugene Record

Eugene Record
Warner, 1977. Very Good+
A great solo moment from Eugene Record – the singer who'd rose to fame with The Chi-Lites, and who still sounds pretty darn great here on his own! The album follows strongly from the best late styles of Record's previous group – and the tunes are a mix of ballads that Eugene could ... LP, Vinyl record album
