Very Good - (minus)
Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play,
but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic,
with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a
cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner
and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay,
though probably with surface noise.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Better than you might guess - not really a folk album, but a set that gets Chubby Checker past some of the earlier pop modes of his hits! The tracks are nicely complex at times – and titles include "Hey Bobba Needle", "Hooka Tooka", "Tzena Tzena", "Ah Si ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of our favorite-ever albums from Esther Phillips – an album that really helped her transform her sound for the 70s! A great album that's often overlooked amidst the flurry of early 70's releases on Curtom, but which stands as one of Mayfield's greatest from the 70s! In fact, we'd say that the album's one that we enjoy putting on more than most – because the songs are less familiar, and not nearly as ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the nice moments from the days when David Axelrod was producing Lou Rawls! The record's a great mix of soul and tight LA production, and features the breakbeat cut "Fa Fa Fa Fa Fa (Sad Song)". Other nice ones include "Season Of The Witch", "It's You", "I ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the few albums as a leader by Chicago Soul genius Richard Evans – a key late 70s effort that perfectly sums up all his genius on record for countless other artists! The album's got a warm, smooth groove that's totally great – one that builds tremendously from the sophisticated ... LP, Vinyl record album
A sweet little comeback album for Isaac Hayes in the mid 80s – really going all in with a crisp and bouncy 80s soul groove – a far stretch from the smouldering and soaring funk of the 70s, but a record that's a lot easier to appreciate that a love for 80s sounds has crept back up into ... LP, Vinyl record album
Billy goes for a hip 70s easy mode – a bit like Grady Tate, and made even better by sweet LA arrangements from Artie Butler. The titles have kind of a sophisticated soul groove to them, and Billy's definitely stretching his voice a bit to keep up with Artie's arrangements. Titles include ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great little album of smooth jazzy fusion tracks – often overlooked, and the only release we've ever seen by this obscure female flute player! Hilary clearly comes from a Bobbi Humphrey tradition, and her work here reminds us a lot of Bobbi's later sides for Epic – with large soulful ... LP, Vinyl record album
Juice's classic album of 80s new classic soul – a mixture of quiet storm styles for the hip hop generation, with production work by Russell Simmons on most of the record, and Kurtis Blow on the track "It's Yours". Other titles include "The Rain", "Here I Go ... LP, Vinyl record album
The beautiful first solo album by Lani Hall – recorded after years of work with Sergio Mendes in the Brasil 66 group – and done in a style that certainly reflects her great vocals with that ensemble, yet which also expands her sound tremendously! Wild and mysterious stuff! This album is sort of a repackaged version of the legendary Harlem Underground album – a great lost funk album from the mid-70s that listed George Benson as a player in the group, but one that Benson claims that he never played on! The time of this release ... LP, Vinyl record album
