Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

MCA, Late 80s/Early 90s. Used
The best work by Guy – one of those soul groups that showed up on the scene just when we'd lost faith in soul groups, and breathed whole new life into the harmony format! The trio was a key part of Teddy Riley's new jack sound – but they had a deeper quality that's helped them last ... CD
MCA/Hip-O Select, 1974. Used
One of the greatest soundtracks of the blacksploitation era – served up with some incredible grooves from maestro JJ Johnson! The album's got a non-stop, hard-hitting groove that ranks it with the best of its time – and which is arguably even better, because most of the record isn't ... CD

MCA/Back Black (Germany), 1982. Used
An excellent set of 80s groove – produced here by Larry Blackmon, with a very Cameo-styled touch – under a title that definitely shows the big shift in the funk scene over to the west coast at the start of the 80s! LA Connection really have a great way of blending things together ... CD

Second Image

Strange Reflections
MCA/Finesse (UK), 1985. Used
A bit more mainstream than the first album from Second Image – but a set that still retains most of the group's charm! The best tracks here are sort of a laidback take on more forceful 80s groove modes – keyboards and basslines that snap nicely, but never go too far over the top – ... CD

Philadelphia International, 1975. Used
A great sense of righteousness and groove – the key mix that made the O'Jays so great back in the day – and which really helped put the Philly International enterprise on the map! The album's miles from the group's simple harmony soul roots – even though those were pretty darn ... CD

People's Choice

Golden Classics
Collectables/Philadelphia International, Mid 70s. Used
A collection of 13 tracks pulled from People's Choice's mid 70s recordings for Philadelphia International – sides that show them making the same progression from funk to disco as other groups of the time, like BT Express. And although it would have been easy for the group to leave behind ... CD
