Coleman Hawkins With Red Garland Trio

Exellent late work by Hawk – way darker than you'd guess! The set features Coleman Hawkins as the main soloist with the Red Garland trio, and it's got a very open-ended session that has him blowing tones and phrases that you'd never hear on his earlier albums – moody, angular, and surprisingly modern at times – clearly picking up a bit of inspiration from his time with Monk and some of the younger players of the period. The record's also got a slightly gutbuckety quality that's more deeply soulful than the usual Red Garland outing – and titles include the great long track "Bean's Blues", plus "Blues For Ron", "Red Beans", and "It's A Blue World". © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
