A great date in which Eddie Cleanhead Vinson sticks only to alto sax – and doesn't vocalize at all – reminding us once again that he's a hell of a jazz player when he wants to be! Vinson plays here in a small combo led by pianist Oscar Peterson, who sets up an easygoing groove in his usual Pablo mode – cut through nicely by Eddie, who seems to give the record more of an edge than some of Oscar's other 70s dates! Trumpeter Harry Edison is also in the lead, and other players include Joe Pass on guitar, Dave Young on bass, and Martin Drew on drums – on titles that include "What's New", "Slooow Drag", "This One's For Jaws", "Stuffy", and "Broadway". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
