❔
A strange little film from the late 60s – a brit comedy starring Deborah Kerr and David Niven, in kind of a tender and silly comedy about the early years of birth control. About half the soundtrack's kind of orchestral and romantic (surprisingly), but the other half is nice and groovy – with a strong jazz approach handled by a number of British players, like baritone saxophonist Ronnie Ross, organist Roger Coulam, and tenor player Danny Moss. The Mike Sammes Singers sing "Too Soon To Tell", and they're probably also the wordless vocal chorus on the nice jaunty number "The Pill", a groovy little tune that also has some electric harpischord! Other groovy tracks include "Walk With Grace", "For Geraldine", "The Hired Help", "Indoor Outdoor Girl", and "The Morning After".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Sealed 60s pressing! Cover has a cutout hole.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Michel Legrand

Other Side Of Midnight
20th Century, 1977. Near Mint- Gatefold
A fairly lush soundtrack from Michel Legrand – scored for a WWII period piece that starred Susan Sarandon, but done at a level that matches some of Legrand's more famous film music from the 70s! Orchestrations are rich, and filled with sentiment – and the album's got an especially ... LP, Vinyl record album

Music From Mr Lucky
RCA, 1959. Very Good+
One of the greatest soundtracks ever from the early years of Henry Mancini – a hip jazzy TV score that we've loved for years! The jazzy theme to "Mr Lucky" is reason enough to buy this album – as it's got these wonderful warm washes of sound, interlayed in a way that makes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Konrad Elfers

Funeral in Berlin
RCA, 1967. Near Mint-
One of the grooviest Michael Caine spy films of the 60s – given an equally groovy soundtrack by Konrad Elfers! We don't know Elfers from other work of the time, but this album's a real standout – not the usual spy sort of work, although still with some great jazzy touches at times ... LP, Vinyl record album

Luiz Bonfa/Eumir Deodato

Gentle Rain
Mercury, 1965. Near Mint-
A dreamy little soundtrack to this lesser-known film – but a real bossa classic from the 60s, featuring original tunes by Luiz Bonfa and orchestrations by Deodato! The sound of the set is really wonderful – sometimes fragile, sometimes full – with a juxtaposition that beautifully ... LP, Vinyl record album

James Brown, Survivor, Go West, & Others

Rocky IV
Scotti Bros, 1985. Near Mint-
A real mish-mash of terrible music (then again, wasn't the movie pretty terrible too?) – but the record is noteworthy for the track "Living In America", which was a bit of a comeback tune for James Brown – and not a bad little number when you think about it. Of course, the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marvin Hamlisch/Mongo Santamaria/Burt Bacharach

April Fools
Columbia, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A really wonderful soundtrack, with loads of groovy tracks! The film stars Jack Lemmon, and the format of the record is similar to the Odd Couple – in that musical tracks are interspersed with dialogue, to keep the feel of the progression of the movie. Side one has some especially groovy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fever
Polydor, 1979. Very Good
A great little album by Roy Ayers – one that features none of his hits, which means lots of fresh material – and which has great examples of both sides of Roy's talents at the time!
