In The 30s/In The 40s

LP (Item 562022) RCA, 1930s/1940s — Condition: Very Good+

(Black label stereo pressing with deep groove.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A beautiful bit of hardbop that often gets overlooked because of the "leaderless" quality of the session. One batch of tracks on the record has Jackie McLean playing some beautiful rough interpretations of Bird on the standards "Old Folks" and "Embraceable You". The ... LP, Vinyl record album

A pretty great 70s album from Gil Evans – a set that's got some great use of electric instrumentation, and a mighty groove on the best cuts! A great record that features work not on any other album! The set's a compilation of sorts – but it's really more of a "showcase", one that features the work of three of RCA's brightest jazz stars at the time. A young Gary Burton plays "Hello Young Lovers", "Gentle ... LP, Vinyl record album

A classic bit of choppy Italian fusion, recorded by this once-prog band during a point when they were tightening up their groove a bit. Claudio Fasoli plays tenor, and the great Franco D'Andrea plays Fender Rhodes and synth. Cuts include "Tamale", "Periplus", "Yellow ... LP, Vinyl record album
