Used CD Grade
We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs.
This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer
used CDs in the best possible condition.
When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or
defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs),
so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.
All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly.
If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
A great little record – not only for the early trumpet work of Ira Sullivan, but also for the presence of tenorist Nicky Hill – an under-recorded legend from the Chicago scene of the 50s! The set features Sullivan in extremely tight bop formation – working on longer tracks that ... CD
The overdue debut of reedman Ari Brown as a leader – overdue in that Ari had years of Chicago recording experience – including work in Black Jazz label stalwarts The Awakening, and even some time with Ramsey Lewis too! This set has Brown in wonderfully mature formation – more ... CD
Percussionist Kahil El'Zabar leads the Ritual Trio, and the group's one of the truest extensions of the AACM spirit to still exist in Chicago. No wonder, though, as it's got Malachi Favors of the Art Ensemble on bass, as well as multi-faceted reedman Ari Brown on saxes. El'Zabar's the real core ... CD
Keefe Jackson's an artist who seems to change the name of his group with each new recording – and for good reason too, given that every album has a very unique, personal feel! This date's a live recording done at the Jazzwerkstatt Festival – and it features Keefe working with a few key ... CD
Some of the earliest work as a leader from the great Willis Jackson – a tenorist known to most for his work on Prestige Records in the 60s, but who first began as a key crossover figure between postwar jazz and R&B! The music here definitely captures Jackson in that mode – great ... CD
Trumpeter Brad Goode turns out a wonderful set for Delmark – the label that first took a chance to record him, before Brad left the Windy City and went onto greater fame! This set's a bit late in that legacy, yet Goode really sparkles throughout – often with a more modern edge than on ... CD
The Ritual Trio gets some mighty hip company here – the legendary Pharoah Sanders, who really fleshes out the group's sound with his tremendous work on tenor sax! Core members Ari Brown and Malachi Favors work as a well-tooled unit under the leadership of Kahil El Zabar – no surprise, ... CD
A great 90s set from reedman Roscoe Mitchell – a record dedicated to singer Thomas Buckner, who'd performed with Roscoe previously – and one that has Mitchell really pushing his sense of sound structures a lot since the decade before! There's a quality here that at times is almost ... CD
The headier side of the great Roscoe Mitchell – a project that has some of the reedman's compositions transcribed for larger orchestra performance – but at a level that seems to be a natural evolution of the notion of "black classical music" that Mitchell first helped pioneer ... CD
Dramatic duets between Stan Tracey and Louis Moholo – a rare meeting of two different talents from the UK scene, coming together here with surprisingly wonderful results! Although Tracey and Moholo have both topped our list as some of the key players to have kept jazz interesting in the UK ... CD
