Dash One

LP (Item 560028) Prestige, Mid 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
(€10.16 || £9.02 || ¥1338) (approx.)

(Green label pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Vee Jay, Early 60s. Very Good+
Amazing work from Eric Dolphy – a record that's come out on a number of different labels, under a number of different names – but which is one of his most perfectly-realized sessions of the 60s, and one of his most spiritual albums ever! Blue Note, Early 60s/1987. Near Mint-
A key part of the Dolphy puzzle, and a set of recordings that show a tremendously creative, yet largely-undocumented side of his work (hence the title Other Aspects). The tracks on the set were recorded in the few years shortly before his death in 1964, but they lay unissued until Blue Note ... LP, Vinyl record album
Everest, Early 60s. Near Mint-
Hard to figure out where this material is from – and the notes don't help much! Side one contains "Jitterbug Waltz" and "Music Matador" – both pretty clearly from the sessions Dolphy cut with Alan Douglas. Side two, though, features three tunes – "Juggin ... LP, Vinyl record album
Groovy
Prestige, 1956. Near Mint-
Long tracks and plenty of room to move around – a perfect setting for the classic sound of the Red Garland Trio on Prestige! New Ideas
Prestige, 1961. Near Mint-
Compelling early work from trumpeter Don Ellis – and a set that's almost equally great for the presence of Jaki Byard on piano! Prestige, Early 50s/1964. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
One of the best-ever documents of the young genius of tenorist Wardell Gray – exactly the kind of music that shows why he was one of the biggest and best of the bop saxophonists – before he was taken away from us all too soon! Truthfully we don't know what happened to George Wallington, but he was one of the bright lights on the early bebop scene. Soprano Sax
Prestige, 1957. Near Mint-
A stone classic from Steve Lacy – a record that was nearly as important to the soprano sax in jazz as it was to Lacy in his career!
