Self Portrait

LP (Item 558147) Columbia, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
2LP Gatefold
The sprawling 1970 Self Portrait from Dylan – a record that caps off the most unpredictable period of his career – a mix of classic level Dylan originals and some really interesting choices of covers. A 2LP set with "Let It Be Me", "Days Of 49", "Alberta #4", "All The Tired Horses", "Copper Kettle", "Take A Message To Mary", "Wigwam", "The Mighty Quinn", "The Boxer", "Gotta Travel On", "Little Sadie", and "Blue Moon". Titles include "Let It Be Me", "Days Of 49", "Alberta #4", "All The Tired Horses", "Copper Kettle", "Take A Message To Mary", "Wigwam", "The Mighty Quinn", "The Boxer", "Gotta Travel On", "Little Sadie", and "Blue Moon".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing in the textured cover, with split top seam, splitting in the bottom seam, with yellowing from age and ringwear in back.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A live document of the mid 70s Rolling Thunder Revue era! The first album in Dylan's so-called "Christian Period", but it's not really the uber-dramatic departure from the "old" Dylan that it was treated as at the time – gospel soul backing vocals and testifying lyricism for sure, but it sounds more like gospel has come to Dylan ... LP, Vinyl record album
