An undiscovered live performance from the classic mid 60s Miles Davis quintet – the groundbreaking lineup that included Herbie Hancock on piano, Wayne Shorter on tenor, Ron Carter on bass, and Tony Williams on drums! The tracks here are all quite long and open – not as all-out freewheeling as the group's famous Plugged Nickel recordings, but still plenty darn great – and proof that this quintet could be as well-suited to some of Miles' older, more sensitive modes as it was to some of his bolder experiments of the 60s! Recording quality is relatively strong, although still a bit "live" – and the set was recorded at the Teatro Dell'Arte in Milan on October 11, 1964. Titles include "All Of You", "Joshua", "All Blues", "My Funny Valentine", and "Autumn Leaves". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
