Let's Make Love

LP (Item 552973) Columbia, Late 50s — Condition: Sealed

(Collector's Series pressing.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Simon & Garfunkel/Dave Grusin

Graduate – Original Soundtrack
Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good+
A tremendous little soundtrack – even if you've seen it a million times! Simon & Garfunkel always had a really dark quality to their music, but it never seemed to show as much on the pop charts as it did when used brilliantly by Mike Nichols in this important film. Their tunes emerge in ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenyon Hopkins

Baby Doll
Columbia, Late 50s. Very Good+
Kenyon Hopkins at his finest – informed by jazz, but scored with a bit more seriousness overall – in that late 50s style that oozes social consciousness from the very first note! The score's a lot more put together, and somewhat more restrained than the film – almost a jazz score ... LP, Vinyl record album

Philip Springer/Pacific Gas & Electric/Pete Seeger

Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon
Columbia, 1969. Sealed
A real mix of moods and styles here. Pete Seeger starts out the soundtrack singing "Old Devil Time", and PG&E perform 2 funkier numbers – "Elvira" and "The Rake/Work Your Show", which both have a bluesy rock sort of approach. The best tunes, though, are the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Alfred Newman

Airport
Decca, 1970. Near Mint-
One of the best later moments from soundtrack giant Alfred Newman – a stunning score for a star-studded disaster film at the start of the 70s! Newman's still got some of his older sense of orchestration here, but also gets a bit leaner for the modern age too – bringing in some groovier ... LP, Vinyl record album
