Here's Looking At You

LP (Item 552311) Decca, Mid 50s — Condition: Very Good

(Pink label promo with deep groove. Cover has some tape remnants and peeling on the spine.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Reprise, 1964. Near Mint-
A near-lost album from Sammy's years at Reprise – and an album that's got that nice bouncey style that the label was using with Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in the 60s! A lot of the thanks goes to producer Sonny Burke, who inflects Sammy's vocals with a punched-up set of rhythms that makes ... LP, Vinyl record album

A selection of tunes from the film Pete Kelly's Blues – a 20s tale of jazz and gangsters that starred and was directed by Jack "Dragnet" Webb! Mark Murphy

Let Yourself Go
Decca, 1957. Very Good
One of Mark Murphy's first albums – quite different than his later work, but swinging and jazzy as he could always be! Ralph Burns arranged the set, and even at this early point, you can hear what a talent Murphy is – singing with a confident swing that wasn't often the case for male ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sammy Davis Jr & Carmen McRae

Boy Meets Girl
Decca, 1957. Near Mint-
A real classic from Sammy Davis Jr & Carmen McRae! Mad About The Man
Decca, 1958. Very Good+
Wonderful early work from Carmen McRae – a set of tunes originally composed by Noel Coward, served up by Carmen with a very hip 50s feel! Capitol, Late 60s. Sealed
Don't miss this one! For years, we passed this one by, thinking it an impure version of the great jazz duo Jackie & Roy. Bobby Darin

Inside Out
Atlantic, 1967. Very Good+
A great little record by Bobby – recorded hot on the heels of his big hit recording of "If I Were A Carpenter", and with a surprising respect for Tim Hardin and a lot of the other young songwriters of the post-folk years. Keep in mind that Darin was really feeling his mortality at ... LP, Vinyl record album
