2001 Instrumental

CD (Item 551552) Aftermath/Interscope, 1999 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

We probably liked Dre's comeback LP better than we'd like to admit, and a helluva of a lot more so stripped of the often relentlessly boring braggadocio of Dre's own rhymes, and the bevy of sub par guest MCs. Nothing here but those minimal, hissing beats and sandy synth washes that make Dre great. Overrated by the mainstream and under-appreciated by the backpackers, these beats are pretty tough to argue against if you're big enough to go in with an open mind. All the instrumentals: "XXplosive", "What's The Difference", "Bar One", "Light Speed", "Forgot About Dre", "Bang Bang", "The Message" and the rest, leisurely rolled out over two slabs of vinyl.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

A helluva unpretentious funky party album from the Black Eyed Peas! We won't lie to you, we were prepared to despise the new album, thanks to that hideous Dr. Pepper commercial – but Elephunk is the kind of happy surprise we live for around here. There's just no denying how strong the ... CD

All praise to the mighty J5 – reminding us in the early 00s that hip hop could still be about funky, party rockin' beats and flowing on beat, with witty, intelligent rhymes – and sound as fresh as ever! This album's mostly produced by Cut Chemist, though Nu Mark has a hand in a number ... CD

Jurassic 5 EP
Interscope, 1997. Used
As you might guess from the name, Jurassic 5 base their style on the early old school sound of people like the Treacherous Three and Funky Four + 1. But Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark keep the production clear of the repetitive sound of some of the old school, and MC's Chali 2na, Zaakir, Marc 7even, ... CD

DJ Shadow

Mo Wax, 1996. Used
It seems like when this came out, critics, and even DJs liked to drop the term "Trip Hop" whenever possible, and this album was held up as the watershed mark. A few years down the line and it still holds up, but as an instrumental hip hop LP, as much as a rock album (Shadow's gone on to ... CD

Incredible! This set is like finding a lost treasure chest filled with prime hip hop tracks from the late 80s and early 90s!
