Hello Like Before

LP (Item 551304) Concord, 1977 — Condition: Near Mint-
Also available
Ernestine Anderson — Hello Like Before ... CD 14.99

...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ernestine Anderson

When The Sun Goes Down
Concord, 1985. Near Mint-
A great cooker from the glory days of Ernestine Anderson on Concord Records – a time when the singer was rediscovered, and revamped in a bit of a bluesy mode – reaching a wide new audience at the time! Her vocals really shine at this point in her career, as she lets loose with a bit ... LP, Vinyl record album

Capitol, 1966. Very Good
Tender Loving Care has Nancy singing with arranger Billy May – who comes across here with a bit more sensitivity than usual for his Capitol work, especially given the 60s time of the recording! Sometimes, May is using full strings as a broad pillow of sound for Nancy's vocals – but ... LP, Vinyl record album
New Jazz, Early 60s. Very Good+
A really great record from singer Clea Bradford – a soulful talent of the 60s who hardly recorded much, but always knocked it out of the park! This set may well be her best – a great small combo date with the hip Patti Brown on piano, plus Oliver Nelson on alto and Clark Terry on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Herb Lance

Comeback
Chess, 1966. Very Good+
Although sort of a "comeback" album for vocalist Herb Lance, this full-length is really more of his debut album – since his biggest previous recording had been a hit rendition of "Close Your Eyes", but was followed with nothing else. This album's got Lance singing with a ... LP, Vinyl record album

How Does That Grab You?
Reprise, Mid 60s. Very Good+
Another classic in the Lee Hazelwood/Billy Strange mode, featuring some lusty dusky production that gets a lot better work from Nancy than she could ever do on her own! Nancy Wilson

I Know I Love Him
Capitol, 1973. Very Good+
An excellent lost album from Nancy – and one of her most original! The record takes the sophisticated soul vocals of her late 60s albums on Capitol, and twists them with a hip LA jazzy style arranged by Don Sebesky, and performed by The Crusaders and Arthur Adams. Great stuff, and with the ... LP, Vinyl record album
