Versatility Of Jesse Morrison (bench cover)

LP (Item 549348) Abet, 1975 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

4.50 5

Groovy funky flute tracks, and similar to other instrumental albums on the Abet label – like work by Oliver Sain. Jesse's in the lead on flute and tenor, and is accompanied by electric keyboards and organ. The groove's not as totally hard and funky as Oliver Sain, but still pretty groovy. With "Shakey Puddin'", "Tell Me You Can Feel It", and some covers like "Loving You" and "Stop Look & Listen".  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Prestige, Mid 60s. Good+
Mellow gravy is right! Brother Jack swings it nice and cool with help from Joe Dukes, Gene Ammons, and Harold Vick – using his patented two-tenor sound for a very full-on groove that makes this one of the best of his early 60s Prestige sessions. One of the greatest records ever from Mandrill – a set that has the group tightening things up and getting even more funky than on their first few records, but with a vibe that's still nicely loose and spontaneous overall! The set's got Mandrill perfectly balanced between jazz-tinged funk ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1975. Very Good- Gatefold
A great later sleeper from Brian Auger – a record that's much deeper and more soulful than some of his earlier work – and done in a soaring style that's really great! Alex Lighterwood sings as much as Auger plays the keys here, but that's ok with us – because he fuses his voice ... LP, Vinyl record album
