This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A bit of a gimmick – but a good one! The title track to the album is a famous 6 minute version of "Stand By Me" – one that has Spyder singing the track in styles that imitate Eddie Kendricks, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Billy Stewart, and others. The rest of the album ... LP, Vinyl record album
A slightly deeper vibe than previous work from The Ovations – but in a great way too! The set begins with the Sam Cooke remake of the title track, but after that things pick up a bit more – using more bass in the backings for a groove, and a bit more keyboards too – not exactly ... A surprisingly great pairing of talents – the post-Animals Eric Burdon on vocals, and early grooves from Cali funk legends War – coming together here in a blend that still holds up beautifully after all these years! Burdon was already getting pretty soulful on the last few Animals ... LP, Vinyl record album
A weird one. The album's sort of a trippy mix of psychedlia, soul, and jazziness – with production by Alan Lorber in a similar style to other projects of his from the same time (like the Lotus Palace album on Verve.) Bobby Callender sings in a style that's infused with a sense of knowledge ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great album of mellow modern soul tracks recorded in Chaka's post-Rufus years! The record was produced by the great Arif Mardin, the man who made so many of the 70s Atlantic soul records work so well – and he handled Chaka's voice with a sweet sweet sound that you don't always get on her ... Not the greatest album by this East Coast funk band – and one that shows them hitting a bit more of a crossover club sound, with lots of up-tempo funk tracks that kind of aim for a disco groove. Fortunately, the instrumentation's pretty good – and the album actually has some nice ... LP, Vinyl record album
An overlooked groover from late 70s Motown – served up on a record that might look more like a heavy metal outing, but which is tight clubby soul all the way through! Platinum Hook are a bit in the funky territory of early Commodores – save for the fact that they've got one female ... LP, Vinyl record album
Killer work from this legendary vocal group – a key percursor in the development of soul! Although it's easy to write the Dominoes off as some sort of weak pop/soul doo wop group, because they cut some singles that sounded more like the Platters than hardcore R&B, don't forget that the ... One of the classics, and an album that's filled with a sense of majesty and power that will knock you dead – despite the kind of silly cover of Stevie sitting on a hill, playing in the dirt! By this point, Stevie knows he's on top of the world as well he should – and he's honing the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Super synth heavy 80s pop soul, guaranteed to satisfy your Yamaha DX-7 jones. Titles include "We're Going All The Way", "Lovin", "Mechanism", "The Wizard Of Space", and "Time Is Running Out". LP, Vinyl record album
An 80s groover from LTD – one that has the group working strongly on both groovers and ballads, the latter of which may well be the strongest suit here! Jeffery Osborne's long gone from the group, but his warmly soulful legacy lives on in the vocal style of the love songs – kind of a ... LP, Vinyl record album
