Another Story

LP (Item 5491) Blue Note, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
One of the last great acoustic sessions before Stanley Turrentine's big electric run of the 70s – a laidback, open-ended session that really paves the way for the energy of his records on CTI – even though none of the players is plugging in at all! The tracks are all nice and long, and have these beautiful solos from Stan – played with all the bite of his early Blue Note years, but a bit more fluidity too – which makes for a great match for the album's warm piano work from Cedar Walton. Thad Jones plays fluegelhorn on most tracks – and the quintet also features Buster Williams on bass and Mickey Roker on drums. Titles include "Stella By Starlight", "Six & Four", "Quittin' Time", and "Get It".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Liberty stereo pressing. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
