❔
Not to be confused with the single LP Bahia, this 2LP set features tracks from that one – plus titles from Stardust, and the full album Cattin With Coltrane & Quinichette. The first LP features tracks with Trane blowing with the Red Garland Trio, plus one additional tune with the same group, plus Freddie Hubbard – and the second, as titled, features Trane in the frontline with Paul Quinichette, and trio backing by Mal Waldron, Julian Euell, and Ed Thigpen. Titles include "Cattin", "Vodka", "Anatomy", "Bahia", "Goldsboro Express", and "Time After Time".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Early 80s issue. Cover has light wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

French issue of some of Coltrane's groundbreaking recordings for Savoy from the late 50s – recorded in the company of a super-hip sextet with Wilbur Harden on trumpet, and done in a way so that the tracks open up nice and long, in strong modal grooves that point the way towards 'Trane's later ... A nice selection of recordings done by John Coltrane for Bethlehem Records – mostly cut during December of 1957, and issued on the albums The Winner's Circle and Art Blakey Big Band! Impulse, 1961. Very Good+ Gatefold
Sublimely spiritual work from the great John Coltrane – a live album, but one that's easily one of his most important contributions to music in the early 60s – and a set that we'd rank right up there with his best studio sides for Impulse or Atlantic Records at the time!
