A rare live date from Art Blakey – recorded right around the same time as his Giants Of Jazz concert album for Atlantic in 1972! Like that set, this one features Blakey working with a group of bigger stars than his usual Jazz Messengers – a compelling assemblage of players that includes Thelonious Monk on piano, Roy Eldridge and Clark Terry on trumpets, Kai Winding on trombone, and Sonny Stitt on both alto and tenor sax! The feel is less Blakey-like than some of Art's other material – and more in a classic bop-styled approach overall – but that's no complaint, given the quality of the work, and the strength of the solo players. Titles include "Blue N Boogie", "Round Midnight", "Stardust", "Lover Man", "Perdido", "The Man I Love", and "Night In Tunisia". © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
