Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Buddy Rich

Buddy & Soul
Pacific Jazz, 1969. Used
Groovy stuff! We'd never say a bad word about Buddy (or else he'd sock us one!), but this album is particularly nice – as it features Rich's swinging late 60s group doing some pop/jazz covers of groovy 60s tunes, plus some very tasty originals! All tracks are pretty short, and the band ... CD

Buddy Rich

Big Swing Face
Pacific Jazz, Late 60s. Used
Fantastic work from the legendary Buddy Rich – one of his Pacific Jazz albums from that stretch when Buddy was opening up his bag, and getting very groovy in his music! The album's a live one – and as with the rest from the decade, really has the Buddy Rich sound moving forward, thanks ... CD
Groove Merchant/Beast Retro, 1974. Used
Hard-swinging Buddy Rich from the prime early 70s years – not exactly an all-out funk affair, but still a great groover, with plenty of hip little big band numbers! The groove here is nice and lean – and Buddy and the group are working at Buddy's own club – hitting that trademark ... CD

Cal Tjader

Soul Sauce
Verve, 1964. Used
Arguably THE classic Cal Tjader album of the 60s – a landmark album that crossed over equally into Latin, jazz, and mainstream audiences – and a stone cooker that's filled with smoking little grooves! The set's probably best known for its title track "Soul Sauce" – one ... CD

Michael Cochrane

Impressions
Landmark, 1995. Used
Warmly wonderful work from pianist Michael Cochrane – a really fluid player, and one who isn't always recorded that often as a leader! The album's a simple trio session – with Calvin Hill on bass and Yoron Israel on drums – but like so many of Cochrane's best recordings, there's ... CD
Verve, 1989. Used
A lost late session by Stan Getz – and one of his greatest recordings of the 80s! The album's got the simple elegance of some of his best Verve work – with a group that features Stan on tenor, Kenny Barron on piano, George Mraz on bass, and Victor Lewis on drums. The combination of ... CD
Metropolitan, 1998. Used
An incredible tribute to the greatness of Rashaan Roland Kirk – featuring mixed groups of soulful players who do a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of Kirk's groundbreaking work on reeds! None of these guys is really doing a lot of Kirk's "three in one" blowing – but ... CD

James Carter Quartet

JC On The Set
DIW/Columbia, 1993. Used
James Carter's first album as a leader – and a set that helped mark a place for him as one of the strongest saxophone voices of the 90s! The album has Carter's work on alto, tenor, and baritone saxes set center stage – alongside backing by a trio that features pianist Craig Taborn, but ... CD
Atlantic, 1968/1969. Used
2 incredible records by David Newman – back to back as a single CD set! Bigger & Better is one of the best David Newman albums for Atlantic from the 60s – and one that breaks past the R&B-influenced formula of earlier albums! This one features some great arrangements by ... CD
