Jermaine Jackson

LP (Item 542349) Arista, 1984 — Condition: Very Good
Titles include "Dynamite", "Sweetest Sweetest", "Escape From The Planet Of The Ant Men", and "Come To Me" – plus "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin", a duet with Michael Jackson – and "Take Good Care Of My Heart", a duet with Whitney Houston.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gil Scott-Heron

It's Your World
Arista, 1976. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
A standout set from Gil Scott-Heron – and that's saying a lot, given the strength of his other 70s work! This album's a double-length live set – one that has Gil taking on the familiar format of the 70s, and using it to really push the boundaries of his own music too! Most tracks are ... Buddah/Arista, 1978. Very Good+
Some great tracks from the jazzy soulful genius of Norman Connors! Connors is one of the best crossover soul jazz artists of the 70s – with a masterful blend of styles that's matched by only a few other artists, like Roy Ayers or Leroy Hutson. This set includes tracks from his Buddah and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Take It To The Limit
Arista, 1980. Very Good+
Killer work from the mighty Norman Connors – a set that's heavy on grooves, but which has all the jazzy depth of his early work too! Phyllis Hyman

Somewhere In My Lifetime
Arista, 1978. Very Good+
Warm and wonderful work from Phyllis Hyman – a set that's a lot more mainstream soul than her music of a few years before, but one that still shows a strong commitment to the more complicated styles of her roots! The sound here is full and proud – a nice extension of the work that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Moving Target
Arista, 1982. Very Good+
An overlooked gem from Gil Scott-Heron's classic years on Arista Records – recorded at a time when the singer and group were strongly working in a jazzy vein – even though Brian Jackson isn't part of the lineup! Gil learned plenty of lessons from his time with Jackson – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Afro-Cuban Band

Rhythm Of Life
Arista, 1978. Near Mint-
One of the many 70s disco projects recorded under the supervision of Michael Zager – and although this one isn't nearly as Latin as the name might imply, the record is a nice mix of clubby grooves and conga sounds, in the manner of some of the best Latin Hustle records of the time. Reflections
Arista, 1981. Very Good+
A great little album that's often overshadowed by its hit – the 15 minute "B-Movie", which was sort of an overly-wrought protest piece about how the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980 was going to turn America into a bad b-movie. Not that that track's bad – although its ... LP, Vinyl record album

New Worlds
Arista, 1978. Near Mint-
A bit smoother than some of the group's earlier work, but still plenty darn great – and in a way, there's a warmer, more soulful vibe going on here that really opens things up! The album kicks off with the incredible modern soul cut "Too Late" – a killer blend of jazzy soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

Isaac Hayes

Tough Guys
Enterprise, 1974. Near Mint- Gatefold
One of Isaac Hayes' richest soundtracks – deeper and more complicated than the groove of Shaft and Truck Turner, and filled with some great tunes that glow with color, life, and imagination – showing an Isaac Hayes that almost seems to be moving beyond the usual blackploitation groove! ... Ear Wax/Wonderland, 1978. Sealed
