LP (Item 540875) MCA, 1987 — Condition: Near Mint-
Temporarily Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

❔

(Cover has light wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rufus & Chaka

Masterjam
MCA, 1979. Very Good+ Gatefold
A definite masterjam from Chaka Khan and Rufus – one of the group's last key efforts together – produced to perfection by the mighty Quincy Jones! Chaka's vocals are sublime right from the start – taking on the soaring majesty she'd use on her initial solo recordings – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dobie Gray

Hey Dixie
MCA, 1974. Very Good+
Another pretty great set from Dobie, and actually with a bit less of a country soul feel and a bigger, more freewheeling sound overall – some big horn section- backed tunes, to grittier soul, to more laidback numbers. Includes "Hey Dixie", "How Can You Live All Alone", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rufus

Rufus
MCA, 1973. Very Good- Gatefold
An amazing debut from Rufus – a group so great, they were virtually a genre unto themselves during the 70s! Rufus came from the same totally hip Chicago scene that gave the world Minnie Riperton and Earth Wind & Fire – and like both of those greats, these guys have a way of drawing ... MCA, 1979. Very Good
A dancefloor soul classic – one of the strongest albums ever by Al Hudson, Alicia Meyers, and the whole One Way crew! The record's got a sweet soulful feel that provides a nice counterpoint to its bass-heavy grooves – popping along at that midtempo pace that was Al's popular remedy for ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rose Royce/Norman Whitfield

Car Wash – Original Soundtrack
MCA, 1976. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A solid bit of heavy funk – and one of the last strong-selling soundtracks of the blacksploitation era! Sure, you know the hit "Car Wash", but there's plenty of other great numbers that rank the 2LP set right up there with the best of its genre. There's a lot of nice instrumentals ... Louis Jordan

Best Of Louis Jordan
MCA, Mid 40s/Mid 50s/1975. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A great collection of Jordan's material from the mid 40s to the mid 50s – starting with his jazzy numbers of the earlier years, and moving into the more blues/rock 'n roll sound of later recordings. His band always sounds great and it also sounds like they're having a good time especially ... LP, Vinyl record album

Patti LaBelle

Be Yourself
MCA, 1989. Very Good
A hit set from the end of the 80s – one that showed Patti still going strong in her third decade in soul music! The set's got a style that's decidedly more modern than some of the classic work we know from Patti – but her vocals are still very strongly in place, and if anything, the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Odetta

Odetta Sings
Polydor, Early 70s. Very Good
Quite different than the usual Odetta album – and a record that has the folk singer running through some hipper more modern numbers, often with a bit of a funky twist! Some tracks were recorded in Muscle Shoals with a small combo that includes Roger Hawkins, Eddie Hinton, and Jimmy Johnson ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elgins

Darling Baby
VIP, 1966. Very Good
The Elgins were a great little group on Motown's VIP label during the 60s – and they had a sweet falsetto soul style that reminds us a lot of the best work by The Miracles during the same time. Lead singer Saundra Edwards has a style that's similar to Smokey Robinson's high vocals – ... LP, Vinyl record album
