Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Don't It Feel Good
Columbia, 1975. Very Good
Massive keyboard work from the great Ramsey Lewis – easily one of his best records ever, thanks to some spaciously funky production by Charles Stepney! An excellent album of Latin material from Herbie Mann – and proof that he's equally great in just about any setting! Casino
Columbia, 1978. Very Good+
Casino has a smaller, tighter lineup than some of Al DiMeola's other records of the time, but the overall sound is still pretty far-reaching – thanks to a mix of keyboards from Barry Miles, and a blistering array of acoustic and electric guitars from Al himself! Arthur Blythe

Illusions
Columbia, 1980. Near Mint-
Maybe the boldest of Arthur Blythe's albums for Columbia Records – as the set bristles with newly creative energy right from the start, and provides a great showcase for some of the criss-crossings of styles and rhythms that were taking place on the New York scene at the time! The lineup ... LP, Vinyl record album

Tom Scott

Street Beat
Columbia, 1979. Near Mint-
Maybe not the beat of the street in our neck of the woods, but a set that's definitely got a bit more bite than some of Tom Scott's other late 70s efforts! Scott's work on saxes is mixed with a bit of Lyricon as well – tied up in a group that features fuzzy guitar from Carlos Rios, who ... LP, Vinyl record album
