Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for
the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-")

If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws,
these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that
since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with
the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records
are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible

Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A huge batch of work from the great JJ Johnson – material that includes 14 tracks recorded for Savoy as singles in the late 40s – plus the full Jay & Kai 10" album from 1954! The singles were all recorded in 1946, 1947, and 1949 – and they already mark Johnson as one of ... LP, Vinyl record album
A surprisingly wonderful album – one that pits JJ's trombone against a wash of voices conducted by Frank DeVol! The vocal group's a relatively small one, and they sing in a nice breezy jazzy style on most cuts – hipper than usual for DeVol, with a swinging style that mixes male and ... LP, Vinyl record album
First volume of the two LP set that compiled JJ's bop trombone sides for Blue Note. Great stuff, and arguably among some of his best work. The arrangements are tight, and JJ's in the company of great rhythm players like Kenny Clarke, Horace Silver, and Paul Chambers, who make the sessions really ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great mix of electric modes from Paul Bley – working here on Fender Rhodes and Arp, plus a bit of acoustic piano as well! The album's got a great reworking of the sense of space that Bley brought to his regular piano work – excellent accompaniment from Barry Altschul on percussion ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderfully grooving late 80s set from Earland, with a great cast of supporting players, though their names may not be as well known as some of the heavies on his other records, the group has a wonderful vibe throughout the side. Ignore the couple of tracks that this record (and all of his ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice little session from Lee Konitz – simple, without many tricks, and a great 70s extension of the sound of his 50s work! The group's a quartet with Sal Mosca on piano – and on a number of tracks, the pair of them play together alone, Lee blowing introspectively, and Sal working in ... LP, Vinyl record album
A bit of a change for McCoy Tyner – but a set that's every bit as righteous as his other classics from the 70s! The lineup here is slightly different – with John Blake's violin playing a strong role in the sound, and lots of percussion from Guilherme Franco giving the set an almost ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice 2 LP collection of some of Kenny Dorham's beautiful lyrical trumpet work for the Riverside label from the late 50's. The set features material from the albums Jazz Contrasts, Two Horns/Two Rhythms, Blue Spring, and This Is The Moment – plus one track from Abbey Lincoln's album That's ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of those ubiquitous Milestone 70s two-fers combining two nice sides from the little giant. The first set is Big Soul Band, a sweet little album from Johnny – quite different than most of his other sessions at the time, as this one features a big band, as the title says – filled ...
