Beat Konducta Vol 5 & 6 – Dil Cosby & Dil Withers – A Tribute To Dilla

CD (Item 538957) Stones Throw, 2008 — Condition: Used
Temporarily Out Of Stock

A mad funky pairing of beat suites from the Beat Konducta – Vols 5 & 6 in the evolving, unpredictable series of deep, crackling beatcraft – with a little help from J Rocc and spiritual guidance from Dilla! The Dil Cosby and Dil Withers Suites are as solid as any of the volumes to date, compellingly funky and in more of Madlib's heady hip hop mode than some of the more psychedelic and experimental efforts before it. That's not to say that Madlib's given up on the oddball flourishes – it's a wild ride, but the emotionally resonant soul samples, some with vocals, but mostly instrumentals, and thumping beats loom large in the mix. 'Lib is the longstanding champion of hazy, smoked out hip hop funk instrumentals – and these volumes together add up to another blunted gem – with moments that are purely influenced by and tributes to J Dilla – those with with the soaring soul string bits anchored by abstract beats – but Madlib's own smoked out sonic signature is out front always. 42 short bursts of mad genius, with spacey jazz funk, cosmic keys, and swirling samples galore! Titles include "For My Mans (Prelude)", "The Mystery (Dilla's Still Here)", "Beat Provider (Through The Years)", "The String (Heavy Jones)", "Dirty Hop (The Shuffle)", "Shades Of Pete (Super)", "Rebirth Cycle (Super Soul)" "Dil Withers Theme", "First Class (The Best Catalogue) ", "Lifetime (Lifeline)", "The Electric Zone (Plugged In)", "Smoked Out (Green Blaze Subliminal Sounds)", "Another Bag of Bomb (No Seeds)", " Never Front (Ears Up) ", "Slapped Up (Snap N' Clap)", "The Sky (Beyond Sight)" and more. Incredible stuff!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
