This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
One of the excellent albums cut by the short-lived Bee Hive label – an imprint formed at the end of the 70s, with a strong dedication to recording in the classic soul jazz style of the 60s! This album features stunning work by pianist Ronnie Mathews – a wonderful talent who's barely ... LP, Vinyl record album
Baritone madness, and a lot more too – a set that's full of surprises, and which may well be one of the most striking records on the Beehive label from Chicago! The date not only features twin terrors on baritone sax – Nick Brignola and Pepper Adams, both blowing at the height of their ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice session – one with a date that might make you a bit skeptical, but with a sound that's still very much in the pocket, thanks to good handling of the effort by the Bee Hive records team! Curtis blows here with a quintet that includes Sal Nistico, Walter Bishop Jr, Sam Jones, and Freddie ... LP, Vinyl record album
Although this one wasn't recorded during Ronnie's classic 60s years, it's still a pretty darn great record, with a strident spiritual soul jazz sound, and a wonderful set of compositions. Mathews was a fantastic player, and mixed McCoy Tyner stridentness with Horace Parlan funkiness – in a ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great return to form for guitarist Sal Salvador – a player who didn't always get that much time in the spotlight in the 70s, until a big wave of fresh exposure from the Beehive label! Sal got his start in the Stan Kenton group, where he learned a great sense of color and phrasing – ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great tribute to the Chicago jazz scene of years back – a reunion of important players from the 50s, recorded in the laidback jam session style you'd expect to hear in an older club! The set was lovingly put together by pianist Norman Simmons, who arranged the tracks on the record – ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice hardbop revival session for Clifford Jordan – recorded with a style that takes us back to his first years on wax – with an excellent lineup, and a very strong focus on the dynamic of the ensemble! The lineup includes Red Rodney on trumpet and flugelhorn, Jaki Byard on piano, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
A rare slice of work by Roland Kirk from his early years – a great live set recorded in Europe in the mid 60's – done in a looser mode than his studio sessions from the time! Kirk's playing his usual array of incredible horns – tenor, stritch, flute, nose flute, and manzello ... LP, Vinyl record album
After Ahmad spent the 60s playing mellow acoustic piano, he turned into a great jazz artist on the Fender Rhodes – and this album is one of the best he ever made in that genre. The record has some great orchestrations by Richard Evans, and Ahmad's tone is very rich and full, with a great ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Charles Mingus' true classics – and an essential album in any jazz collection! This 1959 gem was recorded by Mingus at a key point in his career – when he was rising from the jazz underground into the ranks of America's elite jazzmen, penning some of the most challenging work of ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the greatest albums ever from Blue Note tenor giant Hank Mobley – a set that really explodes in all the new directions Hank was taking in the 60s! Mobley in the 50s was already the stuff of legend – a tremendous soloist on tenor, and every bit his own man – firmly focused ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice little sleeper of an album that has Johnny playing with a larger set of arrangements than you typically hear him in, and with a vocal group on a number of tracks. The set still has a good soul jazz groove, which you'd expect from Lytle at the very least, and spans a range of styles that ... LP, Vinyl record album
