Deep Purple In Rock

LP (Item 536665) Warner, 1970 — Condition: Very Good
Gatefold

Deep Purple may be asking a lot to knock the faces of the presidents off Mount Rushmore, and put up their own images instead – but given the force of this classic early 70s set, they may well have the musical power on their own to carve up a whole mountainside! The album's a ripper right from the start – a tight barrage of fierce guitars and heavy drums from the legendary lineup that included Roger Glover, Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillian, Jon Lord, and Ian Paice – a group so tight, so tremendous, the only way to proper describe them is to encourage you to drop the needle on a classic gem like this! A non-stop barrage from start to finish – with tracks that include "Speed King", "Bloodsucker", "Child In Time", Into The Fire", "Flight Of The Rat", and "Living Wreck".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Green label pressing with Artisan etch. Cover has seam splitting and some surface wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Van Morrison

Astral Weeks
Warner, 1968. Near Mint-
Van's debut album for Warner Brothers and a pretty radical departure from anything he'd done before – breaking all kinds of new ground for his own most creative work and helping pave the way for all kinds of hauntingly poetic rock, folk rock, and singer-songwriter records to come! It doesn't ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gang Of Four

Hard
Warner, 1983. Near Mint-
A bit of an attempt to dive into early 80s mainstream soul – and one that stands the test of time a lot better than we would have expected, despite the super-polished production that all but buries the group's earlier harder-edged style. There's a lot of really nice soulful backing vocals, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Out Of Limits!
Warner, Mid 60s. Very Good
The title track's a mighty big hit for The Marketts – and it's also a great way to describe the group's talent for pushing past their boundaries at the time! The sound is surf instrumental at the core – but really stretches out to space themes, soundtrack areas, and more – thanks ... LP, Vinyl record album

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band

Unconditionally Guaranteed
Mercury, 1974. Near Mint-
Not the Captain's finest moment, but still better than 80% of all the records ever made. Zoot Horn Rollo and Rockette Morton are still on board to lend a helping hand on these fairly tame, by Beefheart standards, numbers, including "Upon The My-O-My", "Sugar Bowl", "New ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sire, 1978. Near Mint-
A seminal 70s set from this key Aussie band – one that almost had more of an impact here in the US than they did in their homeland! The sound is pretty tight, even though there's some larger horns on some cuts – and The Saints have a razor-sharp guitar edge that doesn't profess to be ... LP, Vinyl record album
