Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Philadelphia International/Sony (Japan), 1978. Used
Great grooves from MFSB – a set that shows the continuing sophistication that Gamble & Huff were bringing to their music – even at a time when they could have just laid back and kept on churning out the same sort of sound! The style here is similar to the early MFSB – an ... CD
Philadelphia International/Right Stuff, 1980. Used
A killer album by MFSB – arguably one of their best! Gone are the string-heavy disco arrangements of earlier years, and in their place are some slick jazz funk grooves, mostly penned by Dexter Wansel, who produced a good bit of the album with a similar style to his best space funk records of ... Think what you want – we think this is a damn great soul album! Sure, the record was a crossover classic that got played to death back in the 80s – but give it a listen now, and you'll be stunned to hear how fresh it sounds, and how much it reminds you of all the British soul acts that ... CD

Earth Wind & Fire

Now Then & Forever
Sony, 2013. Used
A mindblowingly good album from Earth Wind & Fire – one of the best we've heard from them in years, and a set that really lives up to all the faith we've had in the group over the years! The sound is right on the money – from performance to production – with a vibe that ... CD

Michael Jackson

Michael
Sony, 2010. Used
An album that's bound to be the stuff of debates for years to come – the last material recorded in the studio by Michael Jackson, formed into an album after his death! If anything, the set's going to be a great reminder that, amidst any controversy over his personal actions, MJ's still a ... CD

This Is It (2CDs and book)
Sony, 1980s/1990s/2000s. Used 2CD/Book
The soundtrack to This Is It – the celebratory release of the King Of Pop's rehearsal footage from the days before his untimely death – which also serves as sort of a best of Michael's years at Epic/Sony! It does a fine job of touching on the each of the diverse styles Michael handled ... CD

George Clinton & The P-Funk All Stars

TAPOAFOM
Sony, 1996. Used
We have to be honest, by this point we'd all but given up on George. But the truth is, Clinton and crew have pulled off a decent job of turning the tables on the whole G-funk scene, and taking a page or two out of their book, after they'd done the same to him for years! While we'd never claim ... CD

Manhattans

Greatest Hits
Columbia/Sony, 1970s/1980s. Used
The Manhattans were one of those groups who knocked around for years in the indie soul world – cutting some fantastic material early on, but then losing direction for a number of years until they sprung forth as a huge act for Columbia during the early 70s. By that time, the band had more ... CD
